Come for the whimsy. Stay for the message. I’m immediately drawn to Angela Deane’s work — taking found photos and transforming them into surreal otherworldly oddities through selective painting (now that’s some old school photoshop).

Much of my work has been tied to memory. How do we hold it? Can we define what it is now that it once was. Ever present is a playfulness intertwined with nostalgia, the sweet married to the bittersweet. Simple yet evocative my series of painting on found materials taught me a lot about visual restraint, about the power of less.

This mixing of mediums introduces us to ghosts, witches, clowns, and wicked flora, erasing the moment that was frozen in time. Imagery often associated with spooks and scares is instead playful and inviting.

She has something for everyone in her shop — prints, original paintings, a book (want!), and custom ghosts (realllly want!!). Follow her on Instagram here.
